YOUR BEHAVIOUR IS STOPPING ME FROM LEARNING

Every school must publish a behaviour policy. It should be available on their website. Gov.uk

image1-29.jpeg

so, what is behaviour?

Said the rock to the other rock.

This is a symbolic topic that must be addressed. Sometimes smiling faces are not the true picture. To every teacher we may have lost, to every student who felt they we're robbed. Ok, so everybody has behaviour: molecules, atoms, memorization of formulas, to solve problems ,a writers use of emotive language, drawing with contrast, the dynamics  played on a piano and so on , ok so that’s the good news. Now, here’s the bad news why should we be an audience to your behaviour? Someone once said to me never show your bad side in public. And it’s this that adheres the truth of behaviour, why would anyone bring their bedroom behaviour into a classroom? Because you wouldn’t do it in front of your parents, but you feel you have the right to parade before us. That’s not right? we must change the narrative, and I don't use 'we' lightly, I, however shouldn't have to be the eyes and ears for someone else. P.s enjoy the music I try to make light in such a serious matter. Have a nice day

The smile: William Blake

There is a Smile of Love And there is a Smile of Deceit And there is a Smile of Smiles In which these two Smiles meet. And there is a Frown ...

This is a brilliant annotation of behaviour by William Blake and captures the true essence. 'so I who say no more said he', but shall attain: it’s not what’s in the box, but what’s rather outside the box.  The area one succumbs to effects a child’s behaviour, i could back that up with  data if needed be. That’s why mindsets must be  plagued of a competition nature to survive the inept 'blindfold' within Boroughs. Nobody wants to be served incompetence when they retire.

B

Welcome to a world of wealth off behaviour

Ok, so behaviour where has it come from? It simply didn't fall from the sky, did it? Hold on, let's forget the Alien assumptions for a second. Look, It's a costly mistake for schools. Because it resembles the ripples in waves in the sea and you can't stop it, if you created it?

Almost eight weeks of lesson time may have been lost to misbehaviour over the last year, the government’s first-ever national behaviour survey has found.

The research, dubbed a “huge wake-up” for the sector, also revealed the health and wellbeing of 60 per cent of teachers had been impacted.

It found around a quarter of youngsters only felt safe at school on “some days” or at no point in the week before they were quizzed.

DfE behaviour tsar Tom Bennett, who helped pen the report, said the results show “we need to refocus our efforts on making sure schools are safe for all”.

“There is a lot of learning time lost to misbehaviour. Even if the recorded data is an exaggeration the suggestion that almost 20 per cent of time is lost in a school day is a huge wake-up to the sector.

“If we could claw most of that back, then we could add a whole year of learning onto a child’s school life. I think most children could really use that extra year, especially the most disadvantaged.”

Sixty-two per cent of school leaders and teachers said poor behaviour had interrupted teaching in lessons in the week before they were quizzed last June.

On average, 6.3 minutes for every half an hour in class was eaten up by poor behaviour.

Our analysis found this would equate to almost eight weeks of classes that could have been lost over the academic year.

“In June 2022, 61 per cent of school leaders and teachers reported that pupil misbehaviour had a negative impact on their health and wellbeing to any extent in the past week,” the report added.

“Of these, 7 per cent reported it to ‘a great extent’, 23 per cent to ‘some extent’ and 31 per cent to ‘a small extent’.”

Failure offleadership in tackling poor behaviour costing pupils

It’s big business and costly. I however, has always been skeptical by those who draw from statistics I have to actually be in it to believe if it’s true? I need to feel it, see it, hear it! And my god its so true. It almost feels as if we’ve deceived the students, or the students have deceived us.  And that’s the severity of education in London (Britain). We haven’t won the Global Teacher Prize. Why not? Education is now becoming a business for people to make money. Now, hold on schools were more than happy to bring the students in because it’s more capital for them. Now, they’ve seen the behaviour the blindfolds must come on, or the fingers in ears. While we must sit there as students, as teachers and listen to it that’s not right? Something has terribly gone wrong somewhere, someone has deceived someone. We now have this wealth of behaviour. As supply teachers were not allowed to say anything it’s protocol, I remember vividly asking students to stand behind their chairs quietly in a school because the lesson was noisy. One student wasn’t happy and began swearing, now I don’t blame the student because if others are not doing the same in their lessons it creates conflict that’s on the school, I was asked if I wanted to make a complaint and i declined. Look, I’m not a strict person I believe my personality mirrors that of Keisha Thorpe. But that’s the severity of behaviour it changes people, like the seating plan. I was once at a school and this particular student was running out of places to go because of his behaviour, and the upsetting thing is his going from classroom to classroom just damaging crops, and that’s the honest truth.

Behaviour is something that builds up over time, you've got to of seen the tide coming, if you didn't bad luck, because that's unfair on the student, he/she may not be aware of their surroundings (it may be SEN)

What you’re about to witness is sadly not the makings of Global Teachers prize area, but more of the nightmare on Elm street, and I am not affiliated with Ofsted. Look, this is personal these are your children, these are my children, but this is our area. What we're saying at Dennis Academy is: 'we know what your doing and were not going to let you do that'. Just because ofsted doesn't see it, why should our children see it. What gives you the right?

DENNIS ACADEMY BEHAVIOUR POLICY

images-42.jpeg

20 Codes of Conduct

IMG_7982.JPG
3_edited.png

                           To my government:

We are the only school in Hackney that can change the narrative. My team and I will serve His majesty’s government and will fix the broken promises that has been running rigid under this borough for so many years , Or this 'wealth' of troublesome  behaviour becomes a sea on our streets: more heartache, more coverage of our students in the news.

                             To the Parents

My team and I will abide by oath to serve every student in Hackney and will not be blind-sided by behaviour: by race, by religion, by sex. but to rid this endless cycle of deplorable unhappiness in our schools. will assign a SEN specialist who will report to me on a weekly basis, I have worked in SEN and pru schools. So, there will be no Guessing Game is it SEN? Look, We are waiting, but more importantly ready to govern the school of excellence!

quality of education

My team and I, will set out ideas to change the narrative on learning. In hackney what I've experienced is students been forced fed to learn.

Look, it mirrors a 13th century French-English noble, who commanded so much authority from those around him that he imprisoned King Henry III. ' if your words outrank the king’s, you should be able to get schoolchildren to pat their heads and rub their tummies at the same time, whilst standing on one leg.
yes, you guessed correctly

Simon says. How have we got to this in education? 'I’m not doing it for me, I’m just doing it for the teacher' . And it’s here we have this heavy burden for mind maps. Because nobody can recite what took place in a hours lesson without referring to their text books. Don't get me wrong, Mind maps are a perfect summary of the lesson, but what did you do in a hours lesson? The key words etc. I believe there are short cuts taking place and time is been lost somewhere.

images-42.jpeg
images-42.jpeg
IMG_7982.JPG
3_edited.png

We shall plan our lessons by the importance of the title on the board. Our students will get involved in this rather than having a burden on teachers, I’ve experienced that teachers change professions, or join other schools, become unwell, or are on maternity leave that could lead to 52 weeks off (that’s their legal right to do so). We remember what Covid put us through  and it was lost time. This has a effect on our students education, so the  learning must continue, that's why the importance to annotate a script is a must. If students are not doing so, then the playground is now in the classroom. our greatest mistake is relying on others, students must be responsible that the title of every lesson has been actioned on and the work is completed there is no excuse for this and will be classed as disruptive of behaviour.

My team and I, will set out guidelines on group discussions in lessons. As we write information down what are our minds adhering to? We will work in groups, so it preempts team bonding, I have seen all too frequently a need for students to hide in fear: fear of being laughed at, or in fear of saying something wrong, team bonding will eradicate this. Every classroom will be set up with one public speaker stand at the front of the classroom.

My team and I. will set out plans how mock exams will be administered. It will not be in the classrooms but in the halls. as if it were proper exams. The moment we relax { switch off} is the moment we pay a heavy price in education. I have seen the eyes of nervousness amongst students on exam day: heads bowed, restlessness, whilst those who decide to sleep at their desk In an exam! {yes, that was written correctly} and at times it feels, as if we’ve trained the horse now we will just see if it decides to drink the water if it wants to? Is that truly how exam day should be? Students bringing in their behaviour in exam day because behaviour had ruled their lives in education now dictates the exam day. I once had a student say to me in a exam she didn’t understand the calculator whilst in a ‘maths exam’, now in a secondary school how is that financially possible? schools are open for 195 days a year! The question is how many students were like this on the day of the exam? promise you I am not affiliated to ofsted whatsoever, look, I understand there’s protocal on exam day nobody is judging that here, but mock exams where are the skills that students have learnt?  Students must be trained correctly how to behave in an exam to get the correct marks. They must be trained to sit at a chair one hour and forty-five minutes, they must monitor their liquid intake, it’s small things like this that are short changing our students. That parents aren’t aware of. This isn't fair as these students have been short changed because for whatever reason: behaviour etc it stopped them from learning. Mock Exams will attain true data if done correctly.

We will set out how morning registration should be implemented, as all too frequently half the classroom is confused. At times mirrors a playground, as the other half of the classroom stays silent. In truth students should be reading. I remember vividly a student always reading a book I  decided to say something to the class that morning about how reading helps:

  • Improves vocabulary.

  • Reduces stress levels.

  • Improves writing skills.

  • Helps mental health.

  • Develop empathy.

  • Improves memory.

  • Boosts knowledge and brainpower.

  • Improves focus and concentration.

This again, is a vulnerable moment in education. What is the mood like in the morning? We will go by data.

My team and I, will put together new guidelines on reading and maths, from my experience in Hackney these are the two hidden subjects that students shy away from because this has not been dealt with ‘properly’ in primary schools.  At times it feels criminal that this is now a burden in secondary schools, and  our students are being short changed.

images-42.jpeg
3_edited.jpg
3_edited.jpg

                          Reading

what I uncovered is 4 out of 17 students in the morning read books, again we are creating a wealth of culture to force fed to read a book.

Students would rather talk first thing in the morning, as appose to reading a book.

The skills our students will benefit from reading is about understanding the human condition, empathy, concentration, eloquently, humorous discussions and creative expressions.

My team will set out guide lines to compete with this. We will give students the opportunity to create their own novels, fiction etc working in groups creating a chapter. We will also attend book fairs to promote the book. The winning form group of this book competition will be treated like pop stars, as I believe it will be a game changer in education. the government must see reason and back me on this war. And that’s exactly what it is.

Lets be honest, Students will only read if it’s to do with Arsenal, Tottenham etc, or will just spend hours on end listening to music. The sad truth is Music, fashion, gloss, football etc has over taken us. It’s now a way of life, not reading or maths.

IMG_7982.JPG
3_edited.png

Writing

Something that I was surprised at with our students in Hackney is the quality of handwriting, I was surprised in a secondary  school the level of grammarpunctuation marks. And drawing pictures. As far as i'm concerned that's your finger print in education. If your given a lined piece of paper regardless if its written in the book {for ofsted to see} we are becoming into a culture of doing it for others and not ourselves. Look, it borders laziness and at times feels criminal.

Behaviour and attitudes

3_edited.jpg

3_edited.png

My team and I, will set out guidelines on how to deal with truancy we will go by data to eradicate what the problem could be and will listen to the students side before putting forward a investigation.quences of teen truancy include a decline in school performance, loneliness, low self-worth, increased mental health problems, increase in anti-social behaviour.

3_edited.jpg
3_edited.jpg
IMG_7982.JPG

We will review toilet breaks in lessons if it is a medical issue we will need a letter from the doctor. A pass will be issued. Again, this could lead to a investigation and be classed as a form of disruptive behaviour. We will go by data. Find out what subject is this happening in and why? We believe one student will change the narrative on this and forcing schools to close toilets we believe this creates a wave of behaviour. Prisons have locked toilets not schools. We will go by data. Remember it only takes one student to create this panic.
Maybe the approach should be different, students should put their hands up (as they do) you attend to student discreetly, as appose to student shouting it out across the classroom. We will go by data. We will hold video screenings on how food and drinks effect our use of toilet breaks

My team and I, will abide by a zero talking policy in the classroom. Here is another subject that robs us of talent, and I’m on the side of every student. I mentioned earlier a public speaker stand at the front of every classroom, this will therefore encourage talking the brain becomes more active as opposed to copy and pasting information. Therefore, no one will be shy and silent throughout their school life. As the 'loud bullying' controls the classroom. Students will ascend in groups, but when the light on the public speaker stand is switched off there is no talking in the classroom.

We will set out ideas to change how lunch and break times are mediated.

Our free time is just as important to when we are learning. From my experience at times it felt as if a mad rush for a Saturday sales in the Westend.

And its  this behaviour that our education becomes at a vulnerable state. a debate must be put in place why this is happening? Are our students eating healthy?

Light piano music will be accompanied on lunch and break time

I must tell you: there is something distasteful when there is a mad rush for students to find the nearest exit at break times.  I’ve been a witness to it in a lot of schools in London this tells me one thing: students aren’t enjoying their lesson and it’s something they 'keep' quiet about and unleash that 'freedom' in the playground and education shouldn't feel like that. It's becoming a sad place education should be more entertaining more passion.  My team will adjust how lessons are introduced before and after breaks to coincide the mood of students. We will go by data.

We must conduct ourselves better outside the school-gates, whilst in ‘uniform’, I was absolutely livid overhearing a conversation between a group of students on a bus. yes you guessed correctly: in ‘Hackney’ they had just seen one of their teachers, one student replied: o, look it’s ms XXXX I had hoped she had died" and then the bus erupts into laughter. A complete shock what is fuelling our beautiful students to rise to this abhorrent level? There is more of this on our safeguarding page. My team and I, will hold regular assembly meetings on this, we are dealing with behaviour to ' understand'  why? to not short change our students. If the matter persist in our uniform. We will go by data and decide the next step.

3_edited.jpg

3_edited.png

My team and I, will have a zero tolerance policy on bullying. There are many forms of bullying, there’s the bullying in the playground and the bullying in the classroom, where I don’t want to do this work so nobody in this class is doing it then the performance begins, and we must sit there and be an audience. We will go by data so the embarrassment is not for other students to be a witness to,  it could lead to being expelled.

Our presentation is our fingerprint, when I say presentation I subside to all: our clothing, our use of words, our writing. where are our bags are kept in the classroom and so on. One isn't cardinal than the other its the complete package. If I could pick two things im not satisfied with is our handwriting and choice of words, I mentioned etiquette earlier and having someone coming in from a priverlige area and students been lost in translation, wasting valuable time known as the cinema moment in education. Primary schools must take some responsibility, Hold on, not to contradict matters I have been confronted by year 7 students telling me they don’t like the language and tone of older year groups. So the argument is up for debate. Year 7, is the golden era. Get this wrong . You damage a whole crop of generations. We will go by data to see who the dismissive students are.

Continuing the theme on presentation. We at Dennis academy are officially asking the government to review its clause on slide presentations, I was at a school where I felt the slides were becoming overcrowded text. Look, one photo could speak a thousand words rather than the endless text students won’t remember. It was history and I had to go slide by slide about the the church reformation. The actual book itself is one inch thick, maybe students could underline the the key points from information sheet, a group discussion and then convert into their own mindmaps

Theres no secret our competition is ETON. We want to get our students in Hackney to reach those very heights.

My team and I, will change the way education is spoken and written in Hackney, here at Dennis Academy we believe a stronger emphasis on dictionary must be in primary vocation. All too frequently I will hear that phrase: ‘can I’ as appose to  ‘May i’ used by almost the whole class. And it becomes as if we’re still in a primary school.  As a community 'we' must be prepared for competition. Once we’ve corrected this then behaviour won’t have a seat in our classrooms.

images-42.jpeg

As a school we don't have an opinion in politics, this is a student edition website,

Nonetheless, our pages on safeguarding and community must prevail, not just for the general public but for the protection of children. We at Dennis-academy believe the  role of deception as an unhealthy one.

Its a changing world we as a community in hackney can not afford for our students to be taught with blindfolds with regards to Behaviour from primary upto secondary we must change the narrative in Hackney and in other urban areas and to assure a safe. prosperous future, my diverse team of Teachers will be ready to lead a new way in teaching in hackney, its time to build a team for competition, its time for Dennis Academy.

My greatest fear is our infant schools are turning into a jazz-hand song and dance because teachers are becoming blind to behaviour, so students dictate to when not to learn. Look, we are more than just 'a people partying in the park', observe how other boroughs are with their students the air is greener, I say to parents we must prepare our students for competition it doesn’t need to be expensive but a shift in mindset will prepare us and our children in Hackney.

School Behaviour policy

Do now:

Every school must publish a behaviour policy. It should be available on their website. If not, you can ask to see it. It explains:

  • the rules

  • what’s expected of pupils

  • what happens if they misbehave

  • what the school does to prevent bullying
